External Hard Drive Cannot Be Mounted?
I just purchased a freeagent go 500gb and tried plugging it into my powerbook g4. it was detected but i tried to mount it and failed. i then unplugged the external hdd.
now i plug it into my mac and it does not detect the drive! here is what is written in the log.
Mount of “disk1s1” failed
Verify and Repair disk “disk1s1”
** /usr/local/bin/ntfsfix has been disabled because of volume corruption issues.
** If you still want to try fixing your volume, use /usr/local/bin/ntfsfix from the command line..
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
Disk Utility stopped repairing “disk1s1” because the following error was encountered:
The underlying task reported failure on exit
1 non HFS volume checked
1 volume could not be repaired because of an error

i then reformatted the drive on my windows to ntfs (it came pre-formatted in ntfs). i plugged it in but the same thing still happens! can anyone help me!

Could you give me the output written in /var/log/ntfs-3g_util.log ?
If there is no such log file you may have to turn on debug logging and repeat your attempted mount to get any resonable output. This can be done with a script located in the Tools folder in the .dmg disk image that you used to install NTFS-3G.

oh i checked the log from disk utility again. the got that message the first time i detected the drive and tried to mount it.
now i plug the drive into my mac and there is totally no detection of it. it just says disk utility started. the drive runs fine on my windows pc..
as to how i get the log file, i just type in the /var.. into terminal? i have already enabled debugging

You can type:
cat /var/log/ntfs-3g_util.log

If no such log file appears, even after enabling debug logging, then NTFS-3G apparently never comes in contact with your NTFS drive, and your problem is not NTFS-3G related at all.
This seems to be confirmed by the fact that you don't even see your drive in Disk Utility.. so you should complain to Apple or the manufacturer of your USB hard drive.

Jul 21, 2011  Re: NTFS-3G Mount problem Error: /dev/disk1s1 got frustrated searching for answers and getting none- i got hold of a copy of paragon NTFS v.9 and installed it. Maybe you guys oughta try this if NTFS-3g continues to have compatibility issues with Snow Leopard. Feb 22, 2016  Hello This solution helped me without problem, since I couldn't finish last step, immediately after that could not mount stopped. I have Lion 10.7.5 Macbook Pro 2011 and have NTFS Mac-fuse solution installed from early beginning. I managed to get this drive to Windows system and unmounted it 'safely'. However, this is one of the very things I use NTFS-3G for: to access and backup a faulty Windows NTFS drive. https://ninyoga.netlify.app/how-to-connect-keyboard-to-garageband-on-mac.html. So, two things for you, as Lead Developer: Why are the instructions you posted to me above not what is in the dialog that appears, instead of what simply does not work?

NTFS HDD USB CASE unable to connect on MAC OSX
Hi the forum !
i'm french and sorry for my english...
I have buy TUXERA NTFS v2015.1
When i plug my ZALMAN VE350 HDD case on my MACBOOK 13' late 2009 with OSX El Capitan v 10.11.2 TUXERA return me an error message :
_____________
Tuxera NTFS could not mount /dev/disk4s1
at /Volumes/iPC services_500Go because the following problem occurred:
Aligned I/O enabled.
CBCIO enabled.
Failed to read last sector (976766974): Invalid argument
HINTS: Either the volume is a RAID/LDM but it wasn't setup yet,
or it was not setup correctly (e.g. by not using mdadm --build ..),
or a wrong device is tried to be mounted,
or the partition table is corrupt (partition is smaller than NTFS),
or the NTFS boot sector is corrupt (NTFS size is not valid).
Failed to mount '/dev/rdisk4s1': Invalid argument
The device '/dev/rdisk4s1' doesn't seem to have a valid NTFS.
Maybe the wrong device is used? Or the whole disk instead of a
partition (e.g. /dev/sda, not /dev/sda1)? Or the other way around?

________________
but when i connect my HDD case on another PC with Windows 7, there work perfectly.
I have try with the TUXERA disk manager, TUXERA found the ZALMAN VE350 interface with partition named : 'iPC services_500Go',
i select the partition and i click on 'MOUNT'. After that i have another error message :
________________
Error while mounting disk disk4s1: Cannot allocate memory

Thanks for your answer and your help !!
